TikTok bios are short — 80 characters, not 150 — and TikTok users read them fast, on a small profile card, often while a video auto-plays. A styled bio works on TikTok for the same reason it works on Instagram: a Unicode character swap that survives the paste. Why the bio pattern on TikTok is different from Instagram
Three constraints that shape the patterns below.
The 80-character limit is tight. The Instagram bio gets 150 characters; the TikTok bio gets 80. A bio that runs “𝐀lex Tan · ᴅᴇsɪɢɴ · ɴʏᴄ” is comfortable; one that runs “𝐀lex Tan · ᴅᴇsɪɢɴ · ɴʏᴄ · ᴍᴏɴ-ғʀɪ ᴘᴏsᴛs · ʙᴏᴏᴋs ᴏᴜᴛ ɴᴏᴡ” is right at the limit. The patterns below are deliberately short.
TikTok collapses line breaks. The bio renders as a single line; a multi-line styled bio comes out as one long line. Use middle dots, not line breaks, as separators.
The profile card is small. TikTok renders the bio at a small size, so styles that are hard to read at small sizes (script, fraktur, double-struck) are less practical here than on Instagram. The patterns below lean on small caps and bold serif, which read at small sizes.

Link-bearing bios
The bio is also the place for a link — TikTok supports one clickable URL per profile.

Pattern: small-caps tagline, then a small arrow (↳) and a real URL in normal text. The URL stays tappable; the styled characters around it provide the design.
The honest caveats
Hashtags in the bio are clickable, but styled hashtags are not the same tag. #𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥ᴇ is not #style. If you want a tag to be discoverable, keep it in normal text.
Search ignores styled characters. A friend searching for you by typing your real name will not find a bio that contains only styled characters. Keep at least one plain-text copy of the name in the bio, or rely on the @handle (which is plain ASCII) for discovery.
Screen readers struggle. The styled bio is decorative. If the bio has a piece of information that matters — a working link, a venue address, a phone number — keep that in normal text.
The 80-character limit is enforced. A bio that exceeds it is truncated server-side, not silently. The truncation point lands mid-character sometimes (a styled character that takes two UTF-16 code points can get cut in half). Keep the bio short and check the rendered version after saving.
Emoji are still emoji. A heart emoji in the bio renders as a coloured picture, not as the Unicode heart ♥. Both are valid; they are different registers. Mixing emoji and styled characters in the same bio reads as a mismatch — pick one register and stay in it.
